Jewellery Care Guide

Jewellery Care Guide

At Crystal Core Jewellery, we take great pride in crafting each piece of jewellery by hand, using quality materials to ensure your jewelry lasts for years to come. To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your handmade pieces, we recommend following these simple care instructions. ♡

General Care Tips

1. Store Properly:

When not in use, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place, preferably in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to avoid scratches and tarnish.

Keep pieces separate to prevent them from tangling or scratching each other, especially for wire-wrapped designs or delicate crystal pendants.

2. Avoid Moisture:

Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or engaging in water-based activities, as exposure to water, especially chlorinated or salt water, can cause tarnish or dullness.

Moisture can affect both the metal and crystal components, particularly for items made with plated metals or non-tarnish wire.

3. Protect from Chemicals:

Avoid exposing your jewellery to harsh chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, hair sprays, and cleaning products. These chemicals can damage the crystals, pearls, and metal components over time.

Always apply makeup, lotions, or perfumes before putting on your jewelry to minimize exposure.

4. Limit Exposure to Sunlight and Heat:

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat can fade the color of certain crystals and gemstones, such as amethyst, opalite, and pearls. Store your jewellery in a shaded area to keep it looking vibrant.

Care for Different Materials ✰

Gold-Filled and Gold-Plated Jewelry

Cleaning: Gently clean gold-filled or gold-plated pieces with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove oils and dirt. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and lukewarm water, then pat dry.

Avoid Harsh Cleaning Agents: Refrain from using abrasive jewelry cleaners or polishing cloths designed for pure gold, as these may strip the outer layer of gold plating.

Sterling Silver Jewelry

Cleaning: Sterling silver can tarnish over time when exposed to air. Use a dedicated silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.

Storage: To minimize tarnish, store sterling silver pieces in an airtight bag or container with an anti-tarnish strip or silica packet to absorb moisture.

Wire-Wrapped Jewelry

Handling: The wire used in our designs is high-quality and durable, but like all metals, it can bend or warp under pressure. Avoid pulling or putting excess strain on the wire when putting on or removing your jewelry.

Cleaning: Clean gently with a damp cloth to maintain the wire’s finish, especially for non-tarnish wires in vibrant colors like chartreuse or turquoise.

Stretchy Bracelets

Wear with Care: Our stretchy bracelets are crafted using durable elastic, but to maintain their longevity, avoid overstretching or pulling on them forcefully.

Cleaning: Wipe down the beads with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or oils, but avoid submerging them in water for extended periods.

• Remove before participating in physical activity: Continuous movement can stretch your bracelet and weaken the string much faster.

Crystals and Gemstones

Avoid Impact: While natural gemstones and crystals are durable, they can chip or crack if dropped or subjected to impact. Handle with care and store them properly when not in use.

Cleansing Crystals: To maximize your crystal’s power, we highly suggest  cleansing them energetically, as well as charging and programming. To learn more, visit our detailed and easy to follow “How Crystals Work” page!

Freshwater Pearls

Gentle Care: Pearls are delicate and should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off when dressing. They can be damaged by perfumes, cosmetics, and sweat, so it’s essential to wipe them clean with a soft, damp cloth after each wear.

Storage: Store pearls separately from other jewelry to avoid scratching their surface.
